Guglielmo Marconi. Vedere l’invisibile

The VIVE complex – encompassing the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia – is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the brilliant inventor from Bologna, whose innovative spirit and groundbreaking discoveries have profoundly shaped the history of modern communications.

The exhibition unfolds across eight sections, each featuring distinct media and storytelling approaches, offering visitors an immersive journey through the life and legacy of the entrepreneur, inventor, and public and private figure. It serves as a unique tribute to one of Italy’s greatest pioneers, whose visionary genius has left a lasting mark on the world.

The displayed materials include documents, photographs, archival films, historical artifacts, and interactive multimedia installations. These items come from 34 renowned national and international archives, such as the Bodleian Libraries in Oxford, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI), the Museo Storico della Comunicazione in Rome, the Accademia dei Lincei, and the Italian Armed Forces – the Navy, Army, and Air Force. The exhibition honors the father of radio and wireless technology, a Nobel Prize laureate in Physics, whose invention of the wireless telegraph was instrumental in saving 705 passengers aboard the Titanic. Marconi is also celebrated as a visionary scientist, a passionate maritime enthusiast, and a tireless innovator.

Promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture and organized by Cinecittà and Archivio Luce, the exhibition Guglielmo Marconi. Seeing the Invisible has been created with the support and sponsorship of the National Marconi.150 Committee and in collaboration with the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation. Key sponsors include ENEL, Fincantieri, and Terna, with Fondazione Leonardo contributing through the documentary Elettra, Marconi’s Laboratory Ship and cutting-edge multimedia content developed with the help of artificial intelligence.
