Munch. The Inner Scream

After more than twenty years since the last major exhibition in Rome, the art of the renowned Norwegian painter returns to the spotlight with a prestigious showcase in the evocative halls of Palazzo Bonaparte.

Curated by Patricia G. Berman, one of the world’s leading experts on the artist, this monographic exhibition is the most comprehensive ever held in Italy. It offers a compelling journey through the life and artistic evolution of Edvard Munch, a forerunner of Expressionism and a key figure in 19th-century Symbolism, celebrated for his ability to capture the deepest anxieties of the human soul on canvas.

The exhibition features 100 extraordinary masterpieces from the Munch Museum in Oslo, including iconic works such as Melancholy, Dance on the Beach, The Girls on the Bridge, The Death of Marat, Starry Night, and one of the renowned lithographic versions of The Scream.

Munch. The Inner Scream is produced and organized by Arthemisia in collaboration with the Munch Museum in Oslo, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Rome, the Lazio Region, and the Municipality of Rome – Department of Culture. The event’s main partner is Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Internazionale.
